Petit by Sofie Schnoor was launched in 2007. It all began with a French wool ball and a dream of designing for children. Inspired by her two children Marie-Olympia and Alexander her dream intensified in substance and detail. Sofie Schnoor realised the lack of alternatives to modern branded children’s’ clothing featuring large brand names, strong colours and extreme patterns. To Sofie Schnoor, seeing the child is more important than seeing the logo on his or her sweat shirt! And so she asked her mother-in-law to start knitting! A ball of wool very quickly became the very first collection of Petit by Sofie Schnoor.
With her collection Sofie Schnoor has dimmed both the colours and the style of our days’ children’s’ clothing. She has created a world of simple and clean-cut collections in soft colours. Her many different products, bed linen, shoes and woollen jumpers all feature the same consistent style and offer many different combinations. Petit by Sofie Schnoor has been inspired by the 1920’s classic features in combination with the raw look of high quality products for which this designer is so well-known. The entire collection is a mix of the pure and simple look with raw details. All products are made using only long-lasting, soft materials of high quality with no use of fabricated or artificial materials, Sofie herself is in charge of all prints and colouring of all styles.
Petit by Sofie Schnoor isn’t just a line of collections as much as it is an invitation to explore a new universe! In this universe, the child is the center. The child’s mobility is the very essence of this collection by which, when wearing these clothes, the child is not disturbed or limited in any way. Using a basic style the designer focuses on the child rather than what he or she wears. Sofie Schnoor products are frames only – it is the child who is the master piece!
